


ABOUT ME

Bob Anderson has coached baseball players for over 40 years. His coaching includes players at the youth level, high school, collegiately, internationally for the United States, and scouting professionally for the Cleveland Indians. He has hundreds of players who have earned the opportunity to play at every level of the game. Bob has won countless awards, honors, and championships over those 40 plus years including being named the 2009 ESPN-Rise CAL-HI California Coach of the Year. He currently is the Head Coach/Field Manager for the Redding Colt 45’s Collegiate Summer Program. Feel free to view the Bio listed and Testimonials about him.

YOUTH LEVEL
At the youth level, Coach Anderson has worked with many little leaguers to the 15U levels in developing hitting, base running, throwing, defense, catching, and pitching. He breaks down the instruction to fit the age of the student-athlete. Learning & FUN is a must!

HIGH SCHOOL - SO. CAL
As for high school, he spent many seasons of his career at this level. He began his career at Mira Costa H.S. as an assistant before moving on as the Head Coach at Bishop Montgomery H.S. in southern California. BMHS was in the powerhouse Angelus League with Mater Dei, Servite, Bishop Amat, and St. Paul. Anderson led the Knights to their first ever D1 playoffs in 1988.

INTERNATIONAL
In 1989 and again in 1993, Anderson was blessed to have the opportunity to coach 2 Team USA clubs internationally with high school and junior college players. Both teams won the International Championships during their stay in the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria, while also playing against Italy, Czechoslovakia, Russia, and Belgium.

COLLEGE/MLB
In 1990, Bob moved to the college ranks as the Asst. Head Coach at Los Angeles Harbor College. L.A. Harbor was annually a top 10 team in the State of California JuCo ranks. The “Hawks” won six consecutive SCAC/SCC championships. In addition, Anderson coached many All American’s, players who moved on to DI & DII universities, as well as being drafted into professional baseball. Anderson then continued his career scouting for the Cleveland Indians. He worked under current Minor League skipper Rick Magnante who has spent over 50 years in MLB. During that time, the Indians were one of the top teams in MLB making it to the World Series twice in the 1990’s. Late in 2022, former MLB Player and current Redding Colt 45’s GM Rick Bosetti hired Bob to become the Head Coach/Field Manager for the Redding Colt 45’s Collegiate Summer Program. In 2023 with Anderson at the helm, the 45’s had a program best .800 winning percentage going 32-8. Last season, they bested the mark by recording at 35-4 season. Anderson will again be back in the summer of 2025.

HIGH SCHOOL - SO. CAL
After 9 seasons of college and professional scouting, In 1999, Bob returned to high school coaching the Torrance Tartars. In his first season, his team won the Bay League Championship and made it to the Semi Finals in the 36 team Southern Section CIF bracket. The team finished 24-6 and he was named Southern California South Bay Coach of the Year. Eight different players off that squad were either drafted and/or went on to play college baseball.

HIGH SCHOOL – NOR. CAL
Anderson's family originated living in Dunsmuir, California before moving to Santa Monica. Bob and his family relocated to Shasta County in 2001 and took over the struggling Central Valley High School Baseball Program. The Falcons instantly became a winner. In his first three seasons, he took a team with a 2-25 record to 2 NAL Titles and 3 CIF Championship Game appearances. He ran the program for 12 years; they won 8 Northern League Titles, 6 CIF Finals Appearances, and 3 CIF Northern Section Titles. Anderson won 3 Northern California Coach of the Year honors and was named the 2009 ESPN Rise/Cal Hi Coach of the Year for the State of California.

CAMPS/SUMMER LEAGUE
Anderson has coached in many high level camps during his coaching tenure. One of the most notable was working a few years with former Dodgers great Steve Garvey. Garvey ran camp throughout the greater Los Angeles area and in San Diego to give back to the community during his brief stint with the Padres. Anderson worked closely with other top high school and college coaches at the camp.
Anderson coached summer leagues from 1981 – 2012. Most of those were managing high school team, but while at L.A. Harbor College he managed the summer team for 6 seasons. After moving to northern California, he worked as the Head Coach for the Shasta Lake Bass American Legion Post 720. Made up of many schools (mainly Central Valley) the Bass won numerous District Titles and an Area Championship Tournament. Anderson then moved on the become the Program Director and Head Coach of the Redding American Legion Teams. The Rattlers/Stars were extremely successful winning the District tournament every season and was a top team in northern California. Also note that current MLB coaches Aaron Westlake (Houston Astros) and Drew Hedman (Arizona Diamondbacks) played for Anderson in Redding American Legion.
